Carpentry as Contact Sport (Updated: 2009-05-04)

Yes, I haven’t posted to the blog in a long time. I am worthless and weak. To make up for my short comings, I’m posting a few pictures from my weekend experience in contact carpentry.

How it all began… I have a new previously loved desk that I moved into my office replacing the two press wood banquet tables I’ve been using as a desk since moving into this house. Once getting the desk into the office, which itself was a Trial of Hercules, and after a couple of weeks I decided that the right hand return would make a great work bench space. I started valiantly, measuring the desktop, drew out some plans, compared them to the wood I had left over and purchasing additional supplies.

Winter in a Metal Box

You don’t know what you have until it’s gone is certainly appropriate with what’s happening in my home now. No no, it has nothing to do with relationship issues, it entirely has to do with refrigeration issues. Imagine my surprise opening the freezer to get ice for a beverage and finding one piece, so solid, a polar bear would have issues with it. At first I thought perhaps the door was left slightly open, so I made sure the door was closed tightly. A few hours later, checked again, and the spring thaw was in full swing.

Opening Salvo

Welcome to my blog. I know I’m a little late to the game, or a lot late to the game depending on who you read, but I figure I’d try my hand at writing the things that knock around in my head including but not limited to computers and technology, electronics, DIY, books, film, games, food, beer, spirits, current events, personalities and whatever else sticks in my brain long enough for me to sit down and write about it.
