Trent Reznor’s Newest Freebie

I recently read about newest free release from Nine Inch Nails, ‘The Slip’, and took the plunge. I figured for an investment of a little bandwidth, I would download it and take a listen and I have to say, I don’t hate it. I haven’t really paid much attention to NiN since about the second album, yeah I’m showing my age, when Mr. Reznor was still a one man band and playing small venues, including ones in Ybor City.

Jake Von Slatt makes some amazing Steampunk objects, and this is the newest floating around the tubes.

What is really amazing is how he can take found objects, stuff from the home store, paint, sweat and imagination and turn it into something beautiful and operational.

Winter in a Metal Box

You don’t know what you have until it’s gone is certainly appropriate with what’s happening in my home now. No no, it has nothing to do with relationship issues, it entirely has to do with refrigeration issues. Imagine my surprise opening the freezer to get ice for a beverage and finding one piece, so solid, a polar bear would have issues with it. At first I thought perhaps the door was left slightly open, so I made sure the door was closed tightly. A few hours later, checked again, and the spring thaw was in full swing.

Frankly Miss Scarlet, I DO give a damn.

Is it bad to have gear lust for something you most likely won’t ever own or even touch? That was the first thing I thought when reading about Scarlet on CrunchGear. I believe what really caught my eye wasn’t so much the 3K capture, which in itself is extremely sexy, but the component-ness of the camera. Here you have a relatively small but extremely high resolution video camera that verges on traditional still and dSLR camera territory with interchangeable lenses, lighting, mounts, viewers, and even storage methods.

3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator

So I read about this 3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator, 3Dconnexion a subsidiary of Logitech, in one of the gear blogs and started looking around to all of the usual suspects Engadget, Gizmodo, Google which pointed me to a new place, Ogle Earth and someplace entirely unexpected Time.com. After reading the articles and comments one struck me as interesting and I investigated it further.
